The Manager's Desktop (PPMDT)
Purpose
Use this procedure to run the Manager's Desktop. This procedure is not designed to take you through the entire working details of the Manager's Desktop - it is more a high level overview of how to access the features of the Manager's Desktop.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when
as a Manager you wish to perform any of the tasks available from the Manager's
Desktop. Functions from the Manager's Desktop can be seen as follows:
Viewing Options
Setting the Time Period
Directly Subordinate Employees
All Subordinate Employees
Viewing Cost Centre Assignments
Viewing Directly Reporting Employees
Functional Options
Writing an Ad Hoc report
Executing a Standard Employee Data Report.
Education and training
Employee appraisals
Personnel Development - Appraisals and Qualifications.
Prerequisites
Your User record must be associated with your Employee record using the communication infotype. This task will be carried out by your HR department. Please refer to procedure Communication for further details.
The Position to which your employee record is assigned must be set up as a "Chief Position" within your department please refer to procedure Change Organisation and Staffing - Editing Positions for further details. This task will be carried out by your HR department.
Navigation Path
Use the following Navigation path(s) to begin this transaction:
Select to go to the Manager's Desktop - SME screen.
When viewing your organisational structure within the Manager's Desktop the following Icons denote the Objects, which can be viewed.

The R/O/C column of each Field Description table indicates whether the field usage is:
R - Required in SAP.
O - Optional in SAP.
C - Conditional in SAP.
Procedure
1. Start the transaction using the navigation path.
2. Double click
Manager's Desktop to go to the
Manager's Desktop - SME screen.
3. Perform one of the following:

You wish to perform functions on Employees within your departmental structure - (This section also contains generic navigational details).

You wish to view all unoccupied positions within your departmental structure

You wish to report on Education and training for your selected Organisational Unit(s), Position(s) or Person(s).

You wish to create or evaluate appraisals on your selected Organisational Unit(s), Position(s) or Person(s).

You wish to enter the personnel File for an Employee so as to process an Employee's Qualification profile or Appraisal details.

You have finished using the Manager's Desktop - SME Employee interface.

19. Select the Objects on which you wish to report.

You can select any of the above objects for Ad hoc Reporting; please note that
the report will be on all objects subordinate to the objects selected. To select
an object click on it, or to select multiple objects hold down the Ctrl key
when you click.

In this example we have selected the Finance department and the Sales department
and al corresponding subordinate objects.

From the
Selected functions window
select

to go to

HR Ad Hoc Query screen.
21. Perform the functions you require in the Ad Hoc Report writer.

Once you have completed your Ad Hoc Reporting activities click

to return to the
Manager's Desktop - SME:
Employee screen.

You can use any of the four tab views to select the Object or Objects on which
you wish to write or run a standard report.

25. Select the Objects on which you wish to report.

You can select any of the above objects for standard reporting; please note
that the report will be on all objects subordinate to the objects selected.
To select an object click on it, or to select multiple objects hold down the
Ctrl key when you click.

In this example we have selected the Finance department and the Sales department
and all corresponding subordinate objects.
26. From the
Selected functions window select the report you wish to execute.
