Create a Product Group for Materials (MC84)

Purpose

Use this procedure to create a product groups, consisting of materials, that you will use in Sales and Operations Planning (SOP).

Trigger

Perform this procedure when materials must be assigned to a product group.

Prerequisites

The relevant Material master records must exist:

Navigation Path

Use the following navigation path to begin this transaction:

• Select to go to the Create Product Group: Initial Screen.

Helpful Hints

A product group whose members are materials can be part of a hierarchy of product groups, i.e. higher level product groups might contain members which are themselves product groups.

Field Description Tables

The R/O/C column of each Field Description table indicates whether the field usage is:

R - Required in SAP.

O - Optional in SAP.

C - Conditional in SAP.

Procedure

1. Start the transaction using the navigation path.

2. Double click Create Product Group to go to the Create Product Group: Initial Screen.

3. Complete the following fields:

• Product group

• Product group description (unlabelled field to the right of Product group)

• PIant

• Base unit

4. Click

Materials in the Members panel.

5. Click

to go to the Create Product Group: Maintain Members (Materials) screen.

The system displays the message, "Master data created for the product group xxxx in plant xxxx."

The product group has now been saved, (i.e. a named product group in the plant but without any members). The following steps will create membership data which you will also save at the end of the procedure.

You can select materials to be members of the product group by using a selection list which contains only materials belonging to a particular material group, purchasing group etc.

6. Perform one of the following:

If	Then
You want to enter members manually	Go to step 7
You only want to use a selection list	Go to step 9

7. Complete the following fields:

• Member number

• Plant

• Proportion

8. Perform one of the following:

If	Then
You want to add further members using a selection list	Go to step 9
You have completed the entry of members	Go to step 16

9. Select and complete the required parameters:

10. Complete required parameters in the Selection: Selections List pop up window.

11. Click

If you already have members assigned to the product group, this will usually cause this information box to display, which is a warning that some materials have been excluded from the selection.

12. Click

13. Select the checkboxes Checkbox Selected

for the required materials.

14. Click

to copy the materials to the Create Product Group: Maintain Members (Materials) screen.

15. Perform one of the following:

If	Then
You want to change the proportions of the members	Enter new proportions in the Proportions field.
You want to display a hierarchy graphic for all related products groups	Click .
You want to display some master data for the group member	Click .
You want to display or update versions	Click .
You want to display the members of the product group	Click .
You do any of the above and want to return to the Create Product Group: Maintain Members (Materials) screen	Click

16. Click

to save your record and return to the SAP Easy Access Main Menu.

17. You have completed this transaction.

Result

You have successfully created a product group for materials. You may also create a product group for product groups.
